Tell us a little it about yourself!

My name is Mike Dinnsen, I’m 35 years old, and I’m a Technical Sergeant in the Air Force.  Married with two kids and a dog. I enjoy playing sports with my kids and DIY home projects.

Tell us a little bit about how you found Gym Jones.

I learned about Gym Jones about 5 years ago on a military deployment. Before that, I wasn’t involved in weight training at all. A friend I was deployed with told me about Gym Jones and I fell in love with the mindset.  “The mind is primary” is so helpful for me. Learning to train my brain is as important as training my body.

Where do you do your S.P.A team workouts?

I train wherever I can. Either at home, the base, or even the local YMCA.

What’s your favorite exercise? Least favorite?

I think my favorite exercise would be deadlifts because I can stack a bunch of weight and move it.  My least favorite exercise is probably the 2k row. I love the feeling of completing it, but the gasping for air at the end is not necessarily my favorite thing.

What is your proudest accomplishment since joining the Strength, Power, Aggression team?

I’m learning more of the olympic lifts like the snatch and clean and jerk. To me, they are technically difficult. I’ve really been trying to get my form down and add weight. So my proudest accomplishment is probably the progress that I’ve made on those lifts.

What is your favorite thing about the online team?

I’m really enjoying the online team training. Getting solid programming from Matt Owen is awesome. I’m really enjoying the progression of the programming and that every day is different. I also love the chat features where I can talk to other people doing the program and ask questions if needed.

Words of advice to others training with an online team?

My advice to anyone thinking about the training is to do it! It’s a great program. For those already on a team, I would say that if you have a question about a lift or what to substitute for one thing or another, ask the question. If you’re wondering about it, it’s pretty likely someone else is wondering the same thing. The community has been supportive and will definitely help out.

A note from Mike’s Coach:

“I am humbled to be able to work with Mike as well as everyone who is a member of our online training platform. The energy that Mike brings to the team helps enrich our gym culture and makes everyone on the team better as a result.” – Coach Matt Owen
